Information for Parents

The Role of Parents at Acorns

All parents and carers are regarded as members of our pre-school. This means that you have the right to be:

  • Valued and respected
  • Kept informed
  • Consulted
  • Involved and Included at all levels

Parents also play a vital role in the early education of their children. As such all the parents in our community have a responsibility to support the efforts of the pre-school in maintaining a respectful learning environment for all. Parents fulfil this responsibility when they:

  • Show an active interest in their child’s work and progress
  • Communicate regularly with the pre-school
  • Encourage and assist their child to follow the pre-school Golden rules
  • Working together with pre-school staff in dealing with any behaviour issues

As a community pre-school we also depend on the goodwill of parents and carers, and their involvement to keep going. We welcome parents to:

  • Work in the group with the children
  • Assist with fundraising
  • Volunteer to help with projects
  • Donate supplies and equipment where possible
  • Give feedback and provide ideas on how we can improve
  • Take part in the management of the pre-school
